Ketchup’s cool. Mustard has a certain flair. The condiment, however, with the real game is the mayonnaise. The creamy sauce has been around for centuries but was not referred to as “mayonnaise” until the early 19th century. They say the word is French, probably from the feminine of mahonnais ‘of or from Port Mahon,’ the capital of Minorca. Okay?!?! I don’t know what any of that means.
All I know is Mayo is my fave. You can’t have tartar sauce or Ranch dressing without it. In my mind, a turkey sammich can’t be done without at least a dollop of mayo spread on the bread. In fact, so inspired by the concoction, I wrote a song about it.
Sure, I used Chris Brown’s “Ayo” as the vessel…but nonetheless…hear my tribute to mayo.
